Circle of Fifths

Click a key to see its signature, its diatonic chords, and its scale

Click any major key on the outer ring or minor key on the inner ring. Its neighbours light up to show the diatonic chords of that key — tonic in deep blue, subdominant and dominant in lighter shades, and the remaining chords muted — with Roman numerals labelling each one. The diminished seventh chord isn't shown on the circle itself (it doesn't sit near the others), but you'll find it in the degrees list below. The staff panel shows the key signature, and you can play the scale or add a tonic drone underneath it. Switch to Key Signature Quiz Mode to test yourself the other way round — a signature appears on the staff and you click the matching key on the circle to reveal whether you're right.
