Transmissions

Track 05 · Second Sight

Transmissions is told through radio imagery — a silver key, a distant signal, a figure waiting beyond glass, mouthing words that never quite reach across the static. A careless moment causes a rift, a chance for explanation is lost, and what remains is someone keeping the frequency alive, hoping to be understood by someone who's gone quiet.

Drawing on Sonus's amateur radio background, the song sits alongside Seven Years of Longing as two different vantage points on the same real event — one written from a distance, watching a connection fracture; the other written from the middle of the silence that followed.

Sonus Lucis — Transmissions

The signal came from underground
She'd drawn a map on borrowed time
The travelling wave received was cold
Carried songs she recognised
A distant voice on unknown bands
Was calling through,
The static noise

The shapes are waiting
Holding on to what was lost

The silver key turns in the dark
Unlocks everlasting rain
A figure waits beyond the glass
And mouths the words she can't explain

A careless speech became a wall
Something said that shouldn't stand at all
The clock ran on and lost the chance
With silence louder than the line
She keeps the frequency alive
For voices lost,
To smaller storms

The words are formed and waiting still
Like code across the Spectrum
She trusts the signal finds its way
To somewhere she is understood

The shapes are waiting still
Holding on to what was lost

The silver key turns in the dark
Unlocks everlasting rain
A figure waits beyond the glass
And mouths the words she can't explain
