UCDF Test Transmission imagines a fictional emergency broadcast system, quietly running its test signal in preparation for some future disaster or invasion that — hopefully — never comes.
The machine producing the announcer's voice has been in continuous operation for many years, and its long decline is audible in the piece itself: the readings grow gradually more error-strewn and unstable as the track progresses, a slow mechanical breakdown hiding in plain sight within the routine.
